At 10 years old, parents are no longer superheroes. Authority shifts to YouTubers and classmates. Mom and dad risk becoming "boring grandparents" who only know to say "clean your room." How can you stay interesting to your child at this age?

Be interested in their world (not diagonally)

Not "how was school?" but "who is your favorite YouTuber? Why?" Watch a video together, laugh. Learn the slang: "crash," "cringe," "sigma." Your child will appreciate that you don't ask the meaning of a word for the tenth time. Ask about memes.

Become a gaming partner

At 10 years old, children love Minecraft, Roblox, Among Us. Ask to be taught how to play. Don't scold for "stupid games," but try to build a house yourself. This brings you closer. Organize a family video game tournament with a prize.

Share your hobbies

If you're a fan of rock music, play the songs of the band you listened to at 10. Tell an amusing story from your childhood (without moralizing). Show your old sticker album. Watching a movie you loved at their age also works.

Respect boundaries (but be close)

An interesting parent is not a "friend" who peeks into the phone. It's someone who knows when to be quiet. Don't demand hugs if the child doesn't want them. Respect their secrets. And be physically available: sit next to them on the kitchen table, not buried in the screen.

The main rule: being interesting is not something you can be, but something you can become through respect and honesty.
