What if you go to the court without an opponent? Without a net? It sounds absurd. But modern technology has made this not only possible but also incredibly effective for training. Tennis of the future is a game with robots, lasers, and projections.

Robotic sparring partner

The most popular novelty of 2026 has become the new generation of pneumatic cannons (robotic servers). They no longer just shoot the ball into a certain zone. Smart algorithms allow the robot to remember how you hit and return the ball to the hand convenient for you (or vice versa, hit in an uncomfortable one, like a real opponent).

Such robots can rotate the ball like a forehand or backhand, imitate a slice or a drive.

Immersive virtual walls

What to do without a net? Augmented Reality (AR) technology projects a virtual net and even lines of out on the court. The athlete sees the boundaries of the field through special glasses, and if the ball flies past the projection, the system counts it as a mistake.

This allows training in any hall where there is no marking. The technology is actively used in closed tennis academies in Scandinavian countries, where there is a lot of snow.

Interactive court and sound targeting

Another innovation is the "smart" court. Under the synthetic surface of the court, there are pressure sensors and LEDs. The LEDs can draw circles-misses on the floor. The player's task is to hit the ball into the blinking sector. If you hit it, the floor changes color and emits a signal. If not, the system signals a mistake.

This develops shot accuracy better than any opponent.

Match simulation

Modern simulators can not only simulate balls but also crowd reactions. The system recognizes a powerful shot and turns on the applause recording. If you are losing points, the virtual scoreboard shows the score 15-40. The neural network can even shout the coach's voice: "Let's get together!". This trains psychological resilience.

Playing alone is no longer a sad "hitting against the wall". It is a high-tech process that allows you to refine every movement.
